The Trouble Tree

A recent FB post caught my attention. It was a wet, rainy day. A builder went to a distant house in the countryside to do repairs for an old lady. The man appeared to be strongly built, in his 60s. He parked his van along the gravel road, grabbed his tools, and ran to the little cottage in the woods. He drove for almost 2 hours from the city for this job. He could have easily avoided it as the roads were slippery and dangerous to drive during the storm. But Emma was one of his old clients, almost like a family member. Jack, the builder, rushed back to the car to get the umbrella. Emma accompanied him. He went to the big tree next to her house and hugged it tightly. Emma found the act a bit weird and asked him about it. He replied, "this my twin trouble tree." and shared his heart with her. After his wife’s death, he became lonely and buried himself in work. After a tiring day at work, he returned home and hung all his problems on a big tree for the night. Surprisingly, the next day, the backpack of burdens and problems was smaller or not there at all.

Emma thanked him for his help and waved him goodbye. Looking at the trouble tree, she pondered over his innovation, creativity, and enthusiasm to deal with the irony of life. A simple yet profound natural deep-rooted philosophy and truth.
